So it's COLD outside - and DRY! Which means, like us, our dogs are suffering from some dry skin, flaking and itching. Remember, dry skin on your dog is more than just a few white flakes, it makes your dog extremely uncomfortable and should not be ignored.
The best thing you can do for your dog is to make sure he is on a quality diet to keep all his systems (including the skin) working optimally. But when the weather gets a little extreme, there are a few things you might add to the routine to help out.
1. Add a quality fish oil supplement for the beneficial Omegas that help keep the skin and coat in top shape.
2. If you're looking for a topical solution, try Vitamin E Oil. It works wonders.
Many people shy away from topicals like Vitamin E Oil because they do not like the oily spot left on the dog, but really saturating the area and allowing the skin to absorb the topical is the best way to treat the problem.
